When you’re choosing a new home, it’s easy to focus on square footage, number of bedrooms or the view from the window. But sometimes, the best apartment choice comes down to something much more personal: How do you want to live?

For Wendy Warner, that question led her to the Orange-style apartment at Landis Place on King.

Before moving to Lancaster, Wendy had lived for nearly two decades in a downtown apartment in Salt Lake City. She already knew she enjoyed the convenience and energy of urban living, but she was looking for something different for this next chapter… a 55+ community in a smaller city.

As she explored the apartment options at Landis Place on King, Wendy quickly realized that the smallest apartment would not give her the space she needed. She also knew the larger apartments were more than she wanted. Her initial favorite was the Walnut floor plan, particularly because of its kitchen, which reminded her of the kitchen she had loved in Salt Lake City.

Then she learned something that changed her mind: the Orange apartment units on each floor had a tree outside the window! That small detail mattered.

“I love this apartment,” Wendy says. With windows in nearly every room, she says, her home is filled with natural light. Her west-facing apartment also gives her beautiful sunset views—and a front-row seat to the birds that visit the tree outside her balcony!

For Wendy, the apartment became more than a floor plan. It became a place where she could enjoy the things she loves: light, nature, a balcony, downtown living and even the unexpected moments that make a home feel like your own. She still smiles when she remembers a cardinal visiting her balcony on Father’s Day, reminding her of her own beloved father.

Wendy served on the resident council during Landis Place on King’s first two years, giving her the opportunity to hear from many of her neighbors about why they chose their particular apartments.

What she discovered was reassuring: people loved the apartments they chose, and for very different reasons.

Some residents specifically wanted the smaller apartments. Others loved a specific floor plan. Some preferred morning light, while others wanted sunsets.

“There’s no single perfect apartment,” Wendy notes. “There’s just the apartment that’s perfect for you!”

At Landis Place on King, the variety of floor plans, views and spaces gives residents the opportunity to choose a home that fits their lifestyle, priorities and personality. And as Wendy’s experience shows, sometimes the little things like a favorite kitchen, a tree outside the window or a beautiful sunset, ‘are what make a place feel like home.
