Landis Place on King, a rental community for those aged 55 and over located in downtown Lancaster, PA, has won the 2023 Senior Housing News (SHN) Architecture & Design Award in the Affordable Housing category. This award recognizes outstanding achievements and creativity in senior living design and architecture throughout the United States. Qualifications to be included in this category included making sure to meet local definitions of low-to-moderate income housing programs. Additionally, the projects needed to demonstrate efforts lowering the costs of construction and land acquisition to keep monthly rental costs as affordable as possible.

Landis Place on King is a mixed-use building that includes 79 apartments, 41 interior parking spaces, and commercial space. Located at 239 West King Street in the heart of Lancaster City, this project is a part of Landis Communities, a non-profit organization that offers abundant choices and opportunities for older adults to live and thrive in community.

The SHN Architecture & Design Awards panel evaluated over 90 entries in nine categories, scoring each project based on design, community integration, amenities and lifestyle, and innovation. Landis Place on King stood out for its urban location, green features, and access to services that allow residents to age in place.

Landis Place on King is a visionary project reflecting the mission to be an integral part of the West King Street neighborhood and complement the residents and businesses that already exist and make the neighborhood special.
